The Butters Hygienics – Soothing Cocoa Butter Body Lotion w/ Lavender and Tea Tree Oil

I have been trying to branch out into other type of product reviews while still sticking to my original theme of body positivity, self love, and body safe products. The Butters reached out to me again and asked if I wanted to review another item, so I jumped at the chance to do some branching. As you can tell from 99% of my site, I don’t review very many ‘vanilla’ products, but here we go!

The item that I ended up choosing was the ‘Soothing Cocoa Butter Body Lotion‘. I know that a lot of you need to have other ways of pampering your body besides masturbation, so I thought, why not feel, and smell, like a million bucks?! Plus with the lavender and tea tree oils, you’ll definitely be relaxed.

The Soothing Body lotion has a base of cocoa butter, with additional added (natural and vegan) ingredients such as vitamin C and E, olive and grape seed oils, aloe, plus good ol’ coconut oil. This combination of oils plus the added ‘soothing’ power of lavender and tea tree oils makes for a wonderful experience.

Upon ordering this particular product from The Butters store, I was warned that I would most likely have to spend a little bit of time warming up the bottle with my body heat before it was going to be easily squeezable. When you use thicker creams and oils such as cocoa butter and coconut oil, they do tend to be a bit temperamental based on temperature, but this turned out not to be an issue. When I received the bottle, I was immediately able to squeeze the stuff out and use it with no problems.

Upon first squeeze I was a bit worried, simple based on consistency, but this turned out to be so far from my mind once I rubbed the golden goodness around in my palm. What starts out as a pretty awkward pile of congealed lotion, quickly turns into a luxurious, creamy, fragrant, and spreadable lotion.

Personally, I used this lotion mostly for tummy and elbow hybration, but I also tested it on other problem areas of my body. After shaving I used it as a soothing balm and my skin felt incredible. Plus I did notice I had much fewer ingrown hairs than I usually do. Not sure if this was because of this lotion specifically, or if I just need to start lotioning after shaving, but either way, I was thrilled.

The bottle states that this product is great for everything from itchy/dry skin, to bug bites, and I believe it! I have extremely dry elbows and after using this product for a few days, they were back to normal. Plus the design of the bottle with the nifty little loop at the top and the thinness allows it to be taken on any type of adventure, whether you’re running to the store or hiking through the woods.

I would sincerely recommend this product from The Butters. So far I’ve tried this plus the PMS Rescue and I have yet to be really disappointed. Being a small business that makes all their products by hand, you know you’ll be getting quality and, as the labels state, love with each order.

I was sent the Soothing Cocoa Butter Body Lotion for free by The Butters Hygienics in exchange for my honest review. If you wish for me to review one or more of your products, contact me! I would love to hear from you!

Mood Music

Music is so important. Music makes us feel things that we need to feel. I’ve always been able to express my feelings and emotions through music more than any other medium. This is also the case during sex and scenes. My brain, specifically, needs to shut down or tune out the world, otherwise I would never be able to enjoy physical intimacy.

Below I have shared the playlist that I have curated, and will keep curating, for my own D/s scenes and other activities. If you have a playlist you wish to share, please leave the link in the comments below! I would love to add to my collection.

Budget Kink

We all want to spice up our sex life once in a while, but sometimes we just don’t have the means to get super fancy. That’s why I’m writing this post. I want you to be able to have as much fun as possible, in and out of the bedroom, with your partner(s). I know there are loads of these types of posts out there, but it never hurts to have more options.

When you’re looking for new items to freshen things up, always be aware of safety. Make sure you’re not putting unsafe items into your body, or using items in a way that could injure you. For this reason, I am just going to list some of the objects that I have used in the past, and some safe ways of using said objects.

Ice Cubes

Ice cubes are REALLY fun for sensation play. Our bodies are naturally warm, so putting anything on them that immediately cools, will make for a wonderful feeling. On the body, you can run the ice cubes against the skin, or you can hold the ice cubes in your hand above your partner, letting the cold water drip on them. The latter never fails to get a really fun gasp out of me when the first drip hits my skin. For oral it’s pretty simple. Just hold the ice cube in your mouth before going to town on your partner. The ice cube will have cooled your tongue to be just different enough for an amazing feeling on the genitals.

Kitchen Utensils

Kitchen utensils work as a great introduction to impact play before investing in the more ‘normal’ or ‘kinkier’ toys. You can use silicone spatulas, wooden spoons, metal icing tool for cakes, etc. The options are pretty limitless. Just keep in mind safety, as I have mentioned before and will continue mentioning until I am blue in the face. Do your research. Figure out the safe zones on the body, especially when diving into any form of impact play.

Scarf, Neck Tie, Sleeping Mask, ETC

This category is very unspecific. You can use multiple items for multiple uses. You can use scarves, neck ties, a sleeping mask, or, hell, even a t shirt if you have one that is large and thin enough. Make a blindfold and play with different sensations, use a scarf or necktie to make some easy hand cuffs, the sky is the limit. There is no reason why you should need to purchase anything for these types of basic play. Plus it can be really sexy and fun.

Clothes pins

Clothes pins are…very interesting. This is something that I would only recommend for the people who can handle a little bit of pain, because they’re not gentle. My favorite way of using clothes pins is on my nipples, but ever since I got actual nipple clamps, they haven’t seen much use. Some of the other, kinkier, uses for clothes pins could be full body clamping or labial pinching. Like I said, probably not for the vanilla players, but hey, you never know if something’s your kink until you try it.

Bonus: Spanking

I really wanted to add something to this list that wasn’t an object. Spanking doesn’t require anything except a little knowledge and your hand. You might think, why spanking? Well, for one, it’s really fun, and two, it’s a lot more complicated than one might think. There’s the basic spank of hand to ass cheek, but have you thought about changing it up a bit? Play with the way your fingers are spread out, learn the different areas that are safe to spank on and around the bum. There’s so much more to spanking than just the basic way you see in movies or even in porn (because lets be fair, some porn can be fairly vanilla, unless you know where to look).

I am not an expert in anything. These are just my opinions and my experiences. If you have any questions, please do your own research and ask the proper people. I am not responsible for any injury that may or may not occur in using the objects and items mentioned above.
